Winter’s Garden

It starts with water, just like the summer garden,

then onions and celery, frozen for winter’s use,

red pepper, garlic and parsley from the garden too,

dried and stored in blue jars deep in pantry shelves.

What comes next depends

on what I have in mind

but the winter’s garden

provides the mealtime harvest.
