Past, Present, Future

It is your smile I remember most

how it wrinkled the corners of your eyes

and added a sparkle to your voice

It is your voice I miss the most

how it was sometimes tired, sometimes pleased

but always sweet to a mother’s ears

It is your daughters I cherish the most

how their eyes look like you

their voices sound like you

You are not gone while your girls are here

how they live their lives is how they remember you

how we live is how we honor you

So beautiful and straight from your heart.

I’m sitting here trying to write how this made me feel and find no words to help me. I can only say I felt bereft, full of love and memories when I read this beautiful poem.
