Hide and Seek

Alone

Around me all the family sleeps

rain whispers on the roof

wind pours through spring-green

trees that glow ghostly in the night

Quiet

surrounds

envelopes and caresses

as I seek words and meaning from what is

then succumb and stumble to my bed, bereft

of the poem that played at the perimeter of creation
