NaPoWriMo Day 6: write a poem about food

(There’s a mention of coffee in this one, so it sort of fits, right?)

When birdsong lilts high and light from tree to tree,

when coffee brews earth-brown and strong,

when day hints gold in foggy blue,

when gardens shade from gray to green,

when bergamot, lemon balm and rose blend a sweet perfume,

in bare feet and the night’s soft gown

wet to the ankles in the dewy grass,

I soak in the blessings of early.
