Tropical Treachery

Twisting, warm southern river

flows slow, liquid silk

slithering, hiding secrets;

In its dark waters

teeth, claws, poison fangs

lurk, invisible evil;

Unwary legs, and white, white feet

bathe, sacrificial

as innocent, naked lambs.
