Simple Pleasure

First, the eggs, brown, fresh
from the coop where the hens
sing delight at each arrival,

Crack into a green glass bowl, scramble
with a worn silverplate fork,
just enough,

Pour into a skillet, not too hot,
so the eggs sizzle, curl a little at the edges;
toss lightly, til not quite set,

Slide onto my favorite plate,
white, with green edges,
add cheese, salsa,

Eat.
